In the year 2022, the Federal Government of Nigeria put forth an auction of the natural gas flared at several locations of oil and gas producers in Nigeria. The auction was a part of the Nigerian Gas Flare Commercialization (NGFCP 2022). The NGFCP 2022 was a set of competitive auctions whereby Flare Gas that would otherwise be directed to flare was auctioned by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) as title holder of the Flare Gas.
Westflux submitted bids for four locations, namely Sites FS-001, FS-014, FS-015 and FS-049. The FS-001 site is an onshore crude export terminal location; so this entailed the gathering of natural gas that results from the processing of the production from all the facilities feeding into the terminal. Sites FS-014, FS-015 and FS-049 are all offshore production facilities, which required the installation of a natural gas gathering system that would subsequently send the gas to a new onshore natural gas processing facility. Westflux was selected as the Reserve bidder for Sites FS-014 and FS-015.
